Ebonyi ADC Crisis: Nwoba Chika Nwoba Faults Civil Servant’s Claim to Party Leadership
A political controversy is brewing in Ebonyi State as Nwoba Chika Nwoba has faulted Dr. Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor’s alleged claim as Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state.
Dr. Adibe-Nwafor, a civil servant in the Ebonyi State Ministry of Aviation and former Interim Head of Service under ex-Governor David Umahi, has come under fire for allegedly parading herself as the state chairman of the ADC.
Reacting to the development, Nwoba Chika Nwoba stated, “Dr. Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor is a staff member of the Ministry of Aviation. I don’t understand how a civil servant can also be a state chairman of a political party. When Umahi was governor, she was made interim Head of Service, and it took a protest to remove her.”
He described her political activities as a conflict of interest and warned against any dealings with her in the name of the ADC.
“Anyone doing business with her on the pretext of being the chairman of ADC is taking a walk on a slippery floor. If she doesn’t withdraw from identifying herself as one, she will be called upon to explain why a civil servant under APC cover should chair another political party altogether,” Nwoba said.
He accused Adibe-Nwafor of being involved in political place-holding for the party in power and recalled her time as Chairman of the Kowa Party in the state.
“She’s into the business of place-holding minor political parties for the ruling party, but such a mercantile disposition won’t be entertained in the ADC. It’s not possible. Dr. Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor is not even a member of the ADC to start with. Impersonation is not allowed in the ADC,” he added.
The ADC in Ebonyi has yet to release an official statement on the matter.
