Ebonyi Hosts AGF, State Attorneys-General for National Law Reform Retreat

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), alongside the 36 State Attorneys-General and their delegations, arrived in Ebonyi State on Tuesday for the 3rd Retreat of the Committee on the Review of the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

The committee, chaired by Mr. Olawale Fapohunda (SAN), comprises 60 eminent legal experts mandated to harmonize and update Nigeria’s laws to reflect contemporary governance and justice needs.

Speaking on the event, the Governor of Ebonyi State described the retreat as a historic gathering that not only advances critical legal reforms but also showcases the state as a hub of hospitality, innovation, and progressive governance.

Ebonyi Government Declares Statewide Sanitation Exercise August 30

The Ebonyi State Government has announced that a statewide sanitation exercise will hold on Saturday, August 30, 2025, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

In a public service announcement issued by the Commissioner for Environment, Rt. Hon. Chukwu Victor Uzoma, residents were advised to take advantage of the exercise to clear grasses, drainages, gutters, and evacuate wastes within their premises and compounds.

According to the statement, vehicular and human movements will be restricted during the exercise, except for security operatives, health workers, and pressmen on essential duties who must present valid identification.

The government also warned that taskforce teams from the Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with security operatives, will be on the ground to arrest and prosecute sanitation offenders in line with the Ebonyi State Environmental Sanitation Law.

The Commissioner appealed to residents to support the government’s efforts in keeping Ebonyi State clean and green for the benefit of all.

Ohanaeze: No Igbo Candidate Will Challenge Tinubu in 2027

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has declared that no Igbo man or woman will contest against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

According to the group, the decision is aimed at fostering political unity, national stability, and strengthening the bond between the South-East and the current administration.

Ohanaeze noted that the interest of Ndigbo will be better protected through strategic alliances rather than direct opposition, stressing that their focus is on securing political inclusion, infrastructure development, and fairness in governance for the region.

The body urged all Igbo political actors to align with this position in order to avoid internal divisions ahead of the election.

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has called on the South-East to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Umahi said Tinubu remains committed to inclusive economic growth and prosperity for all regions of the country. He stressed that the South-East stands to benefit more by aligning with the president’s vision for national development.
